What I know for sure.

Happy Labor Day. I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday weekend, blessed with beautiful weather and lots of good food at cook outs! I have never thought too much about Labor Day before until this year. I have worked since I was 15 years old and until now I have never lost a job. If I left, it was on my own terms. My job had been up in the air and back and forth for months so I really not shocked I got laid off, but what I am upset about is the CEO of the company that will be taking over came out to Phoenix a week ago and said there would not be any changes. There is only three people in our small business. I was feeling so much better, however my gut telling me "I dont know about this." So this is the first thing I know for sure, always listen to your gut instinct! Thursday the new owners called and said they arent keeping me. They hope its just temporary and they can bring me back soon. Guess what my gut tells me about that. LOL I wont be holding my breath. Its been a really tough and emotional weekend. I am trying to be a big girl about this, but I honestly just feel like being sad, mad and feel sorry for myself. Especially since I was screwed (can I say that word?) out of my vacation pay they owe me. I left with two days pay! But I am feeling a little better now. I live alone, but my family is freaking out about what is Mom going to do now. I am going to be working on my businesses Gail Friend Designs and Gails Furry Friends. I have to make it work. I dont want anyone else having control over my future every again. Soooo to my family, dont worry, I have no intention on moving in with you! lol AND this is what else I know for sure... I am too damn old to keep start over again! So this is the last time I will. I have been working to get to this place my whole life, its my time and I will succeed.
In the middle of my pity party I did make this bracelet and earrings today. :) Have a great week. Be thankful for your jobs as you celebrate Labor Day this year.

  1. Gail,

I was so sorry to hear about the job. But, you know what you are a survivor. I had the same attitude you have 4 years ago when I opened my Boutique. That is why I fight so hard to make it work.

    You go girl!

  4. Gail, I have been less on the forums this past month so did not get this news until now. You are granted all of those feelings as they certainly are legit! Just allow yourself to BE, girlfriend! I am here, always. You have my email and my phone number. The Lord promises to be with you always...and that includes your friends and family. Your new pieces are out of this world gorgeous (BTW I wish I could find buttons like what you have for my own jewelry but can't find any!). My bracelet is so special to me because you made it...as is my wedding cake pillow, hehehe! But seriously, you have everything it takes to do well. Hang tough through these trying times....

  5. Hi Gail,

Big hugs for you, I can feel for you. You know, I might not have a job soon too, and that kind of makes me nervous a little as well. I just think that there is a reason for things that happens, sometimes it's beyond us to understand. I am very sure you will be spending your time in making your business the priority! I think you will succeed because you're so focused!! Hang in there.

  8. Oh Gail so sorry to hear about your job, these times are not easy but we have found over here that employers seem to be taking the Michael a bit and getting away with murder.

Good on you to go it alone, I did Feb 08 and never again will I be dependent on someone else to employ me, hard work but you are doing it for you and no one can tell you what to do. Good Luck.

    Love the bracelet and earrings

This has been one hell of a pain in the butt year (hello housing market going down the toilet), but ya know what???? We are in absolute and total control over our own lives now. It will work, you will be successful. Ask, believe, receive. It's coming. I know it.

  18. Hi Gail, Sure hope you have great Friday evening and that you soon can enjoy some cooler temps! It so stinks about your job, why not be straight forward from the beginning about your position that would haven been so much more fair instead doing the song and dance sh*t! The company I worked for, for over 10 years sold for about 2 1/2 years ago but at least we knew from the beginning that we would not be able to stay and made it much easier. I still miss it though very, very much and I do miss my steady paycheck, too! You will do fine and now is your time to do what you want to do for YOU!!
    Hugs, Helene
